MINNEAPOLIS: LONGFELLOW NEIGHBORHOODS

SEWARD:

This vibrant community is located near downtown Minneapolis, the University of Minnesota, and St. Paul, all of which are easily accessible by I-94. Nearby Franklin Avenue is the community’s main commercial corridor with a variety of shops, cultural organizations, art studios, and restaurants. The Mississippi River is close, as is the Grand Rounds Scenic Byway. Seward is steeped in the arts - more than 250 artists make up the Seward Community Arts Network (that hosts the annual Seward Arts Festival), and two internationally-recognized arts organizations, the Playwrights’ Center and the Northern Clay Center, make their homes in Seward. Seward is also home to a growing number of East African immigrants. Visit the Birchwood Cafe for tasty and healthy food that sources local, sustainable, organic, and Fair Trade ingredients whenever possible.

LONGFELLOW, COOPER, HOWE and HIAWATHA:

The Greater Longfellow neighborhood, composed of Longfellow, Cooper, Howe and Hiawatha is known for its bungalows, many of which have been featured in magazines and books. In fact, it proudly declares itself a Traditional Bungalow Neighborhood on signs throughout the community. Residents love this area for its proximity to the following: the Mississippi River for its fabulous bike and pedestrian paths (to the east), the Minnehaha Falls (to the south), the Hiawatha LRT (to the west), and the Midtown Greenway (to the north). Lake Street travels through the neighborhood to the Mississippi River, and eventually into St. Paul. Grab a bite to eat at Longfellow Grill after an afternoon biking along the river - the food is unusual, savory, and always made from scratch from the finest ingredients.
